Donation Drives & Collections
WANTED:
A special individual or group willing to take action to collect much-needed items for ARFC’s programs.
AIDS Resource Foundation for Children could not carry out its mission without the generosity of the communities in New Jersey — and the action of a few individual champions. We are seeking people who are able to organize and lead a collection drive of unused everyday items that can bring much help and joy to the children and families in our care.
WHAT WE NEED:
Sheets and bedding for twin and queen-size mattresses
Pots, pans, and cooking utensils
Household paper products (paper towels, toilet tissue)
Household cleaning supplies
Personal hygiene products (soap, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste/toothbrushes)
Gift Cards to grocery stores and multi-purpose stores, like Target and Wal-Mart
WHO, HOW, WHERE:
Consider starting a collection drive at the places you visit most often:
School and After-School Club
Workplace
Place of worship
Social Club
Extracurricular Group Activities (sporting team, knitting circle)
Begin with these simple steps:
1. Decide what items you want to collect
2. Choose a central location where people can drop-off their donations for your drive
3. Set a deadline for when people can turn in their donations
Let us know! We can help by giving you brochures to hand out, sending a representative to your community to talk about our programs, or even pick up the donations when your collection is ready. Get the word out by making posters, telling everyone you know on facebook, Twitter, your blog.
BENEFITS:
Leading a collection drive means that you are taking action and raising awareness about how HIV and AIDS impacts our community. It’s also a no-cost/low-cost way to contribute. You can earn formal volunteer hours for credit and add your participation to your résumé. Most importantly, you are helping a family through a difficult time in their lives.
